What is Invisalign Go?

Invisalign Go is a simplified and discreet way to straighten teeth using comfortable, custom-made and almost transparent aligners. It is an ideal treatment for patients who are looking for a straighter smile but are put off by the idea of traditional metal braces.

Unlike fixed braces, Invisalign aligners can be removed at any time, allowing you to maintain excellent oral hygiene and eat and drink whatever you choose. The treatment is extremely patient-friendly and easy to use. All you need to do is ensure you wear your clear aligners for at least 22 hours per day, to allow the gradual forces to get to work on moving your teeth. It is important to remember that your treatment only works if your aligners are in your mouth!

What can I expect from Invisalign Go treatment?

We offer a fully integrated approach to straightening your teeth at Wigston Dental Care. Your smile-changing journey starts here.

Step 1: Initial consultation

We offer a no obligation Invisalign consultation so you can discuss how you feel about your teeth and tell us the results you are looking for from your teeth straightening treatment. At this visit, we will discuss your suitability for Invisalign Go, and give you an idea of expected costs and an approximate time frame. This consultation is also a great opportunity to ask questions and explore your options.

Step 2: Taking records

If you decide to go ahead with Invisalign treatment, we arrange for a full set of digital records to be taken. We will take digital scans and images of your teeth, which are sent directly to Invisalign.

Step 3: Making your aligners

We can use Invisalign’s virtual 3D treatment planning software, ClinCheck, to show you exactly how your teeth will move over the course of your treatment. At your ClinCheck appointment, you can see what your teeth are expected to look like at the end of treatment, before you have even worn your first aligner! If you are happy with your predicted results, your clear, custom-made aligners will be created.

Step 4: Receive your aligners

When your aligners are ready, we arrange an appointment with you in our practice. We give you your first set of aligners, along with clear advice and instructions on how to fit and wear them.

Step 5: Wear your aligners

You will need to wear each aligner in your series for around two weeks before moving onto the next. With each aligner, your teeth will move little by little, getting closer to your final results. You may feel some pressure when a new aligner is fitted, but this is a good sign your Invisalign Go treatment is working. We see you in the practice every 6-8 weeks, to monitor your progress and make any tiny adjustments needed. As Invisalign Go is used for simpler cases, you will need fewer aligners, and treatment can be completed in 3-7 months, depending on your individual teeth.

Step 6: Treatment is complete

When you have worn your last set of aligners, treatment is finished and your new smile is ready! We give you a set of retainers to maintain your results and prevent your teeth moving back to their original positions, and arrange a review appointment for six months after treatment.

Frequently asked questions
1 How much does Invisalign Go cost?

The cost for Invisalign Go varies depending on your individual case. As Invisalign Go is used for milder orthodontic issues and simple cases, fewer aligners are needed to ensure an incredible result. This usually makes it less expensive than standard Invisalign treatment. Prices for Invisalign Go at Wigston Dental Care start from £2,950 for both upper and lower teeth.

2 Does Invisalign hurt?

Invisalign aligners are designed with comfort in mind, and are accurately custom-made using precise digital scans to make them easy to wear. You may feel some pressure each time you change to a new aligner, but this does not last long and is a good sign your treatment is working.

3 Will other people be able to tell I’m having Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign aligners are highly discreet, and virtually invisible when worn. Other people will not be able to tell you are in the process of Invisalign treatment unless you choose to tell them!

4 Do I need to wear Invisalign aligners all day?

You should make sure you keep your Invisalign aligners in your mouth for at least 22 hours per day, removing them only to eat, drink and brush your teeth. Your treatment progress is stopped every time your aligners are out of your mouth, so it is very important to wear them correctly.

5 Why do I need to wear a retainer?

You need to wear a retainer after your Invisalign treatment to keep your teeth in their new straight positions, and avoid undoing all your hard work. Most patients choose to wear their retainer overnight, while they sleep. Your first set of retainers is included in your Invisalign treatment.

6 How long does Invisalign Go treatment take?

Invisalign Go takes an average of 3-7 months to complete, depending on your case. It is designed for less complex cases, and uses fewer aligners, so the treatment time is usually far shorter than standard Invisalign cases.

7 Will Invisalign affect my speech?

You may find your speech is different, or you speak with a slight lisp, when you first start wearing your aligners. However, your mouth will soon get used to them and you will be talking clearly again before too long.
