Why have teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening is a non-invasive and highly effective dental treatment.

It lightens and brightens your smile without damaging your teeth. A whiter smile can make a huge difference to your look and the way you feel.

Your teeth may appear a little lacklustre due to smoking, heavily pigmented food or drink, or the gradual build-up of stains. Our simple whitening procedure can help combat any dullness and you can see results in as little as 2-3 weeks.

We are now offering in-surgery whitening treatment. Please contact us for further information.

What are the benefits of teeth whitening?

Enhanced confidence: A bright smile can boost your self-esteem and confidence, making you feel more attractive and approachable.

Youthful appearance: Teeth naturally darken with age. Whitening can turn back the clock and make you look younger.

Improved oral health: Teeth whitening doesn't just improve aesthetics; it can motivate better oral hygiene practices. A whiter smile encourages you to maintain good oral health.

Stain removal: Stubborn stains from coffee, tea, red wine, or smoking can be significantly reduced, helping your teeth appear cleaner and more polished.

Special occasions: Whether it's a wedding, job interview, or reunion, a whiter smile can give you the confidence to shine on your special day.

Quick and convenient: Our in-surgery and at-home teeth whitening options are designed to fit your lifestyle. You can choose what works best for you.

Long-lasting results: With proper care, teeth whitening can provide long-lasting results, allowing you to enjoy your brighter smile for months.

What does teeth whitening treatment involve?

Before you embark on tooth whitening, it is a good idea to have a professional teeth clean to ensure your oral health is in great condition. We also assess your teeth and make sure they are suitable for treatment.

To ensure your tooth whitening trays fit well, we take impressions of your teeth. These unique impressions are used to produce custom-made trays that are snug and comfortable to wear.

When your trays are ready, we show you how to use them with a special lightening gel. We give you advice on how often to wear them and give you the chance to ask any questions.

Your treatment is then in your hands! You wear your whitening trays for a specified length of time each day, in the comfort of your own home, until your desired shade is reached.

As a guide, you can expect your teeth to go at least two shades lighter when you have tooth whitening done.

Top up teeth whitening treatment

If you find your teeth are starting to look a little off colour, you can simply buy some more whitening gel and reuse your mouth trays, providing you have had no significant alterations to your teeth. If you are planning to top up your tooth whitening at a later stage, we can check your whitening trays to ensure they still fit and are not worn or damaged in any way.

At Wigston Dental Care, we are committed to delivering safe, effective teeth whitening solutions tailored to your unique needs. Our experienced team is here to guide you through the process, ensuring a brighter, more confident smile that you'll be proud to show off.

Frequently asked questions
1 Does teeth whitening hurt?

No, teeth whitening treatment does not hurt at all. The procedure is non-invasive and we take a gentle and careful approach. You may experience some sensitivity in your teeth, but this is temporary.

2 Is teeth whitening treatment safe?

Teeth whitening is a very safe treatment when it is performed by a qualified dental professional. We are best placed to look after your teeth and gums during treatment, and make sure you are dentally fit before we begin. We also use regulated products. You should avoid teeth whitening kits that can be easily bought online or in beauty salons, as these could cause damage.

3 How long will my teeth stay white following whitening treatment?

The amount of time that your teeth will stay white after your treatment depends on you! The starting shade of your teeth and your diet and lifestyle choices can all affect how long your results last. We give you top up trays after your treatment to help you maintain your results.

4 Can my veneers or crowns be whitened?

Teeth whitening treatment is not effective on dental restorations such as veneers, crowns, dentures or bridges. You may find that these are a different shade to your natural teeth once you have had whitening treatment, so you may wish to whiten your teeth before they are placed, if possible. Your veneers or crowns can be replaced to match the new colour of your teeth, at additional cost. Please talk to us about your options.
